Abstract

Johann Gerhard König (1 728-1 789) was a student of Linnaeus who influenced South and Southeast Asian botany on a strong foundation. His published contributions are however very few and a treasure trove of unpublished manuscripts went to Joseph Banks upon his bequeath. A summary of König's botanical activities is presented here.
