Section Ceratotropis of subgenus Ceratotropis of the genus Vigna Savi in India, along with comparison of selected characters and an artifi cial key to the species of the section is given. A new species of Vigna belonging to the section from northern Western Ghats is described and illustrated. In addition, V. mungo var. silvestris is raised to species level.
