Ipomoea buriliae Belo (Convolvulaceae) isdescribed and illustrated as a new species. We provide a taxonomic treatment along with anatomical, cytogenetic, and palynological descriptions for this new species.Additionally, we include illustrations, photographs, and detailsabout its geographical distribution andconservation status.A comparative list highlights keymorphological characters of I.buriliae in relation to closelyrelated species. It shares some morphological similaritieswith I.parasitica (Kunth) G.Don. However, I.buriliae isdistinguished by its white corolla, spiny projections onthe stem, petiole, and peduncle, as well as a campanulatecorolla and tector trichomes along the filaments.
