Abstract

Evolvulus filipes Mart. (Convolvulaceae), a species native to the neotropics is reported here as a first record in the Asian continent based on collections from Rampara Wildlife Sanctuary, Morbi district and grasslands of Rajkot district in the Saurashtra peninsula, Gujarat state, western India. A detailed taxonomic description, SEM analysis, habitat and ecological notes are provided along with a colour photoplate, distribution map and taxonomic notes for easy identification. Additionally, a taxonomic key to all Indian species of the genus Evolvulus L. is provided.
