Impatiens unguiculata and I. bomiensis (Balsaminaceae): Two new additions to the flora of India from the Eastern Himalaya
Main Article Content
Abstract
Impatiens bomiensis and Impatiens unguiculata (Balsaminaceae), previously known only as endemic to Xizang (Tibet), China and reported only from their type localities, are reported here for the first time from India in the Eastern Himalaya. This paper provides detailed descriptions, photographs, and updated distribution information for both species. These findings highlight the shared phytogeographical links between the regions (Tibet and Eastern Himalaya) and emphasize the need for continued botanical exploration in the Eastern Himalayan biodiversity hotspot region, particularly Arunachal Pradesh. We present augmented morphological descriptions for both species, together with details on their distribution, phenology, habitat, associated taxa, and photographic documentation. For I. unguiculata, we additionally provide a morphological comparison table with closely allied species, along with its first photographic record.
