Comments on the typification of two names in Bauhinia (Leguminosae: Cercidoideae)

Abstract

In the protologue of Bauhinia bassacensis Pierre ex Gagnep., the number 1540, attributed to Harmand is a typographical error and should read as 1240. This numerical designation appears to represent Harmand’s species identifier rather than his field collection number. We provided the correct typification of B. bassacensis, marking a significant correction, the previous typification of B. menispermacea Gagnep. has also been examined and discussed.
