Abstract

A new species of Costus L. (Costaceae) from Tutoh in Miri Division of Sarawak is described and illustrated. It is similar to Costus speciosus (Koenig) Sm. but differs by having the inflorescence on the terminal of separate leafless shoot and reddishband on the tip of stamens, Its distribution is restricted to a small area at altitudes between 500 and 800 m. and so far is collected only from the type locality.
